Pictures of Joy, Susie, and Jules' feet

Regie is a coming 4yo grade Paint. Her top side is Painted Robin and she is out of a grade mare.

Regie was started this past summer by my 15yo daughter.  She cantered on her first trail ride - no issues.  She's been on several rides since then and has been to 3 shows at our local arena.

These pics were taken out in the pasture Nov. 25.

Regie is a sweet natured horse and very willing out on the trails and in the arena.  She ties, leads, will walk/trot/canter under saddle, picks up her leads on a large circle, will go out alone w/a confident rider, and is learning that she won't die if the other horses leave her on the trails.  :-)  She is, however, still very iniexperienced and unsure due to her young age.  I would not recommend her for a beginner nor for a timid rider.

She isn't pushy on the ground but she has always had a bent toward being mouthy... She doesn't really nip or bite but she does like to see if you've noticed that she's nosing around on your shirt.  She HAS to come over and see if you'll give her a scratch and she is easy to catch but her nature demands a degree of horse experience.  She learned early on that things were expected of her so she's usually looking for some sort of 'cue' to respond to.  She is a quick learner and smart, which is good AND bad.  *grin*

Regie has a long stride and can cover ground w/an easy lope.  We've had her in the arena around the barrels and poles and she did well.  We did not run her at speed - we did let her lope between the barrels but she trotted around them.  We weren't 'patterning' her, we were just letting her get a taste of being out in the arena.

We've had her on several trail rides, both on road and off road.  She does better on the off road rides - not too sure about all those cars whooping past while riding on the road.  She didn't misbehave... she just didn't fill me w/confidence so I got off and led her during the road portion.  :-)  She has kicked another horse who came up behind her and bumped into her.  She was reprimanded but I think she blamed it on that other horse rather than thinking it was a correction for improper behavior on her part.  (silly girl)  She hasn't offered to kick again but she would need to be watched in close quarters.

She is gentle to handle and good for trimming and vetting.  She goes well on all terrain barefoot.  She still wants to move around too much for my taste while being saddled and will stand still for mounting but you have to remind her to do so.  She stands right at 14.3h right now but should mature around 15.0 - 15.1h.

You might notice in the pictures she has a long back, both her parents were long-backed.  Long backs = weak backs, or so I've heard.  I have found that long backs = smooth rides.  :-)  If not ridden too hard too soon, and if a horse is taught to carry themselves correctly, a long back is not a weakness and can actually be a strength.  She should also fill out a good bit more through the chest and shoulders.  Her sire was VERY wide.   sylvia

One thing about Regie you may not think of... all that white on her face means that she will blister during the summer.  She usually has some sort of scabby, blister thing going on over her white eye and on her nose during the worst weeks of summer.  If kept in the shade during the hottest hours of the day her face clears up but she does take a bit of extra care.
