Susie
Susie is a 6yo grade qh mare. She is gentle, calm, and willing. She isn't hypersensitive but she does respond well to a squeeze for forwardness. She does not know her leads but will pick them up in the round pen - she needs a straight-a-way to canter under saddle (am working on that). She neck reins sufficiently for trail riding (am working on that, too) and is traffic safe (rural traffic - haven't had her 'downtown' although we did cross a majoy highway w/no problems). She would be suitable for a child who's outgrown their pony. She is on the small side, 14.0 maybe 14.1h, but can carry a small to medium adult easily (up to about 170lbs). Susie has a nice, confident jump. We've jumped many ditches and small 2' fences w/her and she takes it all in stride. Doesn't over jump and isn't scared of crossing water. We've had her on several trail rides and have had no trouble out of her except it does take a bit of work to get her to canter off from the group. She WILL do it -- but the rider should be fairly experienced to accomplish this. :) If she has an inexperienced rider on her (and she has had several times) she follows the group and gives no trouble. |
